Biography
Born in Cartagena De Indias Colombia, ever since she was a small child she dreamt of being a singer.
Motivated by colourful surroundings where it was perfectly normal to dance barefoot on the hot unpaved and bustle streets, she used to play with her hair brush as a microphone at only 5 years old.
At the age of 17 she began her musical career singing different styles of music such as : rancheras, tropical, popular, salsa, boleros, cuban, folkloric, Vallenato; This cocktail of genres contributed to her musical enrichment.
Rocker at heart, her great moment came in 1996 when she represented the department of Bolívar in a national song contest focused on rock performed by Radio Activa, obtaining the third place where more than a hundred contestants participated.
Arrives in England on June 2002 with Orquesta original de Cartagena with whom she won the privilege to represent Colombia at the International Festival of World Music (Diaspora) in London.
Her talent, charisma and discipline makes Angélica López unique; A singer-songwriter who has managed to build her own space in the field of music with her voice, her songs and her style.
In addition to her artistic experience, she also had the honor of accompanying the European tours of international artists such as Willie Colon and Rey Ruiz among others.
It is at the end of 2015 that Madremonte, her most beloved piece of art, begins to flourish! A project dedicated to the pacha mama, which seeks to raise awareness about natural resources and biodiversity. Under the artistic direction of the Franco-Colombian maestro Boris Caicedo, musician, author, producer and director of one of the most emblematic salsa bands in Europe, the Orquesta Conciencia. Together they embark on a musical adventure that they describe as: "A journey beyond music". This production was made between Cali, Paris and London.
Angelica is strongly influenced by the music of the Colombian Atlantic Coast. Rhythms such as cumbia, champeta y fandango are fused and led brilliantly by the singer song writer.
With a contemporary touch , her energetic performances have graced stages such as: WOMAD Festival, The Royal Albert Hall, Shepherds Bush O2 Empire, El Carnaval del Pueblo, Barbican, The British Museum, The house of Commons at the Buckingham Palace, The Bataclan in Paris, festivals and many other events in Europe and the UK.
She is The Lukas Awards Best Vocalist of the Year 2018, Distinction to the Latin American talent in Europe and the United Kingdom.
Honored by the 21st of February 2019 by the Colombian government, with the civic medal of Cartagena in the degree of Knight

At her concerts you can appreciate rhythms that are heritage, tradition and Afro-Colombian richness, as well as sounds coming form Pop, Rock and Urban genres.
The traditional instruments used by Angelica on stage are: gaita, maracas, guacho, tambora, alegre, llamador & caja. Also drum kit, electric bass, keyboard , synthesiser and electric guitar giving this
fusion a more urban, pop and rocker sound.
This beautiful, creative and charismatic woman, ever since stepping foot on British soil, has represented with pride the culture of her homeland. With an overflowing personality, she is described by many as a show-woman, explosive, romantic and full of contagious flavour.
